Today Nokia announced a new commercial DVB-H pilot in Stockholm with Teracom in Sweden. Nokia is supplying the Nokia Mobile Broadcast System 3.0 and Nokia N92 mobile TV devices to the pilot which will last from October to December 2006 and includes 400 consumers. The project is a co-operation between ATG, Boxer, Nokia, Sveriges Radio, Sveriges Television/UR, Telenor and Teracom.

The pilot participants will be able to watch fourteen TV channels and listen to four radio channels in the Stockholm city region, where a network has been built for high quality indoor and outdoor coverage. The objective is to evaluate what Swedish consumers think about commercial broadcast mobile TV.

ATG, Boxer, Sveriges Radio and Sveriges Television will provide content for the pilot. The test will be delivered using Nokia Mobile Broadcast Solution 3.0, and the pilot participants will use mobile devices from Nokia, the Nokia N92. Teracom will be responsible for the network, the broadcast and operating of the platform.

“We strongly believe in the capability of the DVB-H technology as well as in the mobile TV service, and we are looking forward to presenting the full potential and interest of broadcast mobile TV in Sweden,” says Sigurd Leth, Multimedia Director for Nokia Nordic.

DVB-H technology complements existing operator networks, optimizing capacity and quality. It offers consumers the chance to enjoy high quality terrestrial digital broadcasts along with voice telephony and internet access all in a single device. Broadcast mobile TV will offer new business opportunities for mobile service providers, content and broadcast companies, infrastructure and handset manufacturers as well as technology providers.

This is the second mobile TV pilot in Sweden where Nokia is one of the main suppliers of DVB-H technology. Last week, Nokia announced a new contract with TeliaSonera Sweden for a complete DVB-H pilot system, including Nokia Mobile Broadcast System 3.0 and Nokia N92 mobile TV devices, underpinned by Nokia’s hosting and systems integration know-how.

The feedback from different mobile TV pilots has been promising. Results from pilots on broadcast (DVB-H) mobile TV services amongst consumers in Finland, the UK, Spain and France have revealed clear consumer demand for such services as well as important indications over future business models for commercial mobile TV services.

My small business was growing in almost every way imaginable. Every way except the bottom line, that is. My company primarily does business over the phone, with over ninety percent of our sales coming across our telephone lines. When our call volume started to increase late last year, I hired several new employees to man our existing phone system. We updated our computer software, desktops and server to make order processing substantially smoother. We redesigned our website for easy navigation and ordering for internet customers. We even integrated our shipping department to handle an increase in orders. The phones were ringing off the hook several times throughout the day as our business increased, and we started to see a slight shift in the right direction for our profits. Still, I wondered if we were losing calls because of a lack of response time.

Our phone system simply routed incoming calls to any available phone. If no one was available, the customer would hear the phone ring until someone eventually picked up or until they got tired of waiting. I decided to have a trunk study performed, which is a method of finding out how many calls we were losing for not having enough lines. Sure enough, we were missing out on several hundred calls per day. During the busy times, people were calling and hanging up after being made to wait. There was no telling if they ever decided to call back. With office space already maximized to the point that I couldn’t hire additional employees for lack of a place to put them, I decided to update our phone system. We had several new lines installed and would now have the capability to route incoming calls that were not picked up within three rings to go to an automated message telling the customer to please hold for the next available representative. This helped quite a bit as now our busiest hours seemed to stretch out even longer. We then added desk phones with LCD displays so that our representatives could field up to five calls each. This meant that four less customers per desk would receive the same request to hold, but from a human being.

What was formerly a two hour stretch of nonstop business in the morning and afternoon turned into an all day affair. We then customized our message to inform customers that received the automated message of when the best times to call were, so that they would have the option of calling back at a less busy time. After all this, my business increased tenfold. All I can say is that if you do business over the phone and have times where your lines are ringing nonstop, you need to have a good business phone system in place or you might be losing money.

Whether you’re an old timer or a newbie to the Internet, one thing stands out. There are an awful lot of people appearing to make money with it and on it. The first question one has to ask when viewing this flurry of activity and the overwhelming number of offers that come our way on the world-wide-web is whether or not this is real.

It’s real but beware. Illusions of opportunity and tricksters abound. What separates this from other seemingly universal opportunities is that this one, unlike the gold rushes of the 19th century and the oil boom of the 20th century is that this boom is universal and all at the same time, every where at once. I won’t go into the global ramifications of this politically or socially but we are as likely to be spun, diced and served by someone from Uganda and Singapore and all points in between as we are from someone from Cloudcroft, New Mexico.

No boundaries exist. There are no limitations. In a nutshell the Internet, if you haven’t quite caught on yet is the biggest opportunity frontier we have ever explored and the thought of that is absolutely mind-boggling. Anyone, and I do mean anyone, with a computer and a way to plug into the Internet has created for them an unlimited opportunity, plain and simple.

Let’s look at the stats. In 2002 there were 500 million plugged in from all over the world. Today, just four years later, that number has doubled. There are now one billion users. Bottom line is the speed of the market expansion is accelerating and it will double again in just a couple of years. Can you even begin to imagine it?

Now how easy is it to break in? I always like saying, “In about a New York minute”. It pretty well sums up how long it takes. There are those who have a head start, no question about it. Some have been soaking and/or serving folks from the late 90′s and some even brag they have been doing it from the mid 90′s as though they somehow know all there is to know. Actually, all you need to know is that you can learn this in what, “a New York minute”? If you can turn the computer on and off, you can do this. This is not rocket science. And, by golly, you too can call yourself an “Internet Guru”.

The guru description when used in connection with the Internet, I must admit, has always tweaked my disgust button. I always thought of “guru’s as rare birds indeed, individuals that came along infrequently that can be counted on to be the sages of the time. They possess a vast reservoir of expertise. But, on the Internet, we have exploiters by the dozens who fancy themselves as such. Do not be swayed. In two days, you can make yourself an expert and in two months, you can, if you wish to join their ranks, call yourself an Internet “guru”. All it takes is a little homework and a couple of other self-proclaimed gurus to back you up. First check out the good guys and the bad guys.

Click on “internet gurus” on Google and you will find over 7 million references. Can you believe it?

Your first lesson is complete. You already surmised these listings are a lot of hype and the biggest purveyor of them all is none other than Google itself. Easily, they are the biggest seller of the shovels to all these “gold miners”. Now who do you think are the billionaires?

The moral to all this is that staring at you from your computer screen is the biggest opportunity you may ever face in your life. When testifying before Congress during their attempt to breakup Microsoft, Bill Gates, the richest man in the world, was asked what would he do if he were suddenly to lose it all. He reportedly said that all he would need is one of those, pointing to a staffers computer, and in a month, he would have made at least a million dollars.

What you do with your computer, how you do it, where you do it and whom you do it for will determine whether or not you can call yourself a “guru”. The opportunity has never been greater. Good hunting and good luck.

Many consumers are not feeling neutral about net neutrality-the idea that all content streaming in to the Internet should be treated equally.

The words “net neutrality” may sound fair enough, but what this really means is anything but neutral-if net neutrality legislation passes Congress, the companies that are developing innovative new technology for the Internet and the consumers who want to enjoy it will not be treated fairly.

Lobbyists for “net neutrality legislation” are currently asking Congress to pass a bill that will-in essence-stifle innovations such as Internet-based cable TV programming and high-speed broadband networks that are currently being developed by companies such as Verizon and AT&T.

The legislation would force Internet service providers to offer the same speed to Internet companies regardless of the content. So a big business sending out video content would be charged the same as an individual blogger using less bandwidth. It only makes sense that Internet providers be able to set prices based on bandwidth use.

Everyone else-consumers, businesses, broadband providers and the government-must pay a competitive price for the bandwidth they use and for additional features like mobility.

The legislation is a lobbying effort promoted by Web site interests, e-commerce sellers and bloggers who want special government treatment, just for them-one government-set broadband price, with special rates and conditions that consumers don’t get.

In essence, net neutrality is just special-interest legislation, made to sound less self-serving.

Charging companies such as Google and Amazon for their use of the network could help fund new innovations that will one day benefit consumers.

Net neutrality could result in a slower, less responsible Internet; higher broadband prices and taxes for consumers; less diversity in the broadband department; slower broadband deployment to all Americans; and less privacy, because net neutrality would require more government monitoring and surveillance of Internet traffic.

MySpace members can generate a website quickly through templates. These templates enable users to create a generic website in very little time. For those who are just interested in making new friends or keeping in touch with old friends, this may be all the member needs. However, those who want to offer more on their website or those who simply want to create a more detailed website may require some more advanced knowledge to achieve the desired effects.

Adding Background Music in MySpace

The majority of websites on the Internet do not have background music. This may lead many novice MySpace members to believe adding music to the background is a difficult process but it really isn’t. In fact MySpace makes it incredibly simple for members to add music to their profiles. The steps to add music to a MySpace profile are as follows:

* Log into your MySpace account

* While logged in visit this web address: http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music

* Listen to the music available and select a suitable song for your profile

* Click on the link that says “Add” below the song title

* The music is then automatically added to your profile

It is important to note that users can only add one song at a time to their profile. Clicking the “Add” link on a second song will result in the original song being replaced on the profile by the new song. Songs can be removed from a profile at any time by going to the “Edit profile” section of your account and entering the “Profile songs” subcategory. Here you have the option to remove your chosen song.

Adding Videos to MySpace

Adding videos to MySpace is also not as difficult as it seems. Even those with no HTML skills can add videos produced by other members or even their own videos to their MySpace profile. The steps to add a video to your MySpace profile are as follows:

* Log into your MySpace Account

* From your MySpace homepage, click on the “Add/Change Videos” link

* You are then taken to another webpage where you can either search through a database of previously uploaded videos or upload your own video

* To search the database, click on the search videos button and browse through the available videos

* After watching a video you can add the video to your profile in a couple of ways. First you can click on the “Add to my profile” button or you can copy the source code provided and paste this code into the desired location on your profile.

Alternately you can add your own videos to your MySpace profile by first uploading them to MySpace and then adding them to your profile. When uploading a video care should be taken to ensure the video does not violate the terms of service.

Creating Interactive Features on MySpace

Creating interactive features on MySpace is a bit more involved. Members can create features which allow visitor interaction but these features require more extensive HTML knowledge. The best way to acquire the information necessary to design these types of features is to research the subject of HTML code in books or on the Internet. However, if you find a feature on another MySpace website you would like to include in your own profile you can contact the member and ask them how to add this feature.

As the office manager for a small insurance company, one of the many duties I perform is purchasing. This normally involves stopping off at the local office supply store for pens, paper clips, printer paper, ink and toner. In other words, I’m not exactly entrusted with making high level, crucial decisions when it comes to purchasing. In fact, we used to have one of the secretaries do it. Unfortunately, when she retired, the onus fell on me. Because of this, I was somewhat surprised when word came down from the higher ups that I was to be in charge of choosing a new business phone system. At first, I was a little shocked that they were actually going to provide me with a budget and give me carte blanche freedom to actually go out and get something on a scale of high importance accomplished.

Then it occurred to me that the reason they were putting me in charge of such an important facet of our company’s success (after all, we are a catalog retailer), was that I would be in charge of learning how to use the new business phone system and training the rest of our staff. With that thought in mind, I was determined to find a system that would be easy to learn, easy to train on and easy on my company’s budget. After doing some research and some considerable shopping around, I was able to find a business phone system that was expandable in case we ever needed to add more phones or more lines.

This system was simplicity personified and as the wholesaler explained to me how to set up the phone, I knew it would be easy to train others on. Best of all, I came in way under budget, which I know impressed the powers that be. I was complimented on handling the purchasing of the new business phone system several times, which makes me think they have a new appreciation for my abilities. That could lead to more money for me… but somehow I know it will probably just lead to more responsibility.

Iphone’s are proving to be tremendously popular, and one of the most popular things to go with it is to download some music videos for it. The Ipod beforehand has proved to be a very popular device, and it’s now likely for the Iphone to repeat that success.

In order to download the music videos for the Iphone, the first thing you need to do is to make sure the videos you are downloading are in the MP4 format, as this is the only video format the Iphone can currently support. Luckily you’ll find that most sites are primarily based around this format anyway.

The toughest thing about downloading the music videos for the Iphone is actually finding them. It’s pretty tough to find the best download sites unless you know where they are. There are several different kinds of site, some of which may well prove to be a lot more trouble than they are worth. Probably the biggest danger is to use a peer to peer site for your downloads. Whilst these sites have been popular in the past, it’s best to avoid them as they are breaking the law, and so will you be if you download anything from there. Another major danger is the software itself-you can seriously damage your computer and Iphone by using these sites, as there is no regulation of what is uploaded by the users. This means hackers and spammers use sites like this as a method of introducing new viruses to the internet, putting you at direct risk.

The good news about this is that you can now find a few sites which can offer you all the positive sides of the peer to peer sites, but very few of the negatives. The way it works is that you pay a one off fee to join the site, and in turn they give you unlimited downloads. Because you pay the sites a fee to join, they use the income to keep their downloads clean and regularly add new downloads to their stocks. You’ll also find that these kinds of sites keep a lot more in their database than music videos-you’ll also find movies and games as well as TV shows. This gives these kinds of sites a tremendous amount of value for money.

If you are looking to download some music videos for your Iphone, this article will hopefully let you know anything you need.

Multicasting is the process of broadcasting a huge number of routing packets to multiple destinations with the use of fewer networks. Multicasting when used over wireless networks like cellular telephones is known as multicast wireless. As mobile companies all over the world upgrade their wireless networks to enhance the efficiency of new functions like mobile TV or IPTV, the bandwidth usage goes up dramatically, leading to the need for multicast wireless technology. Although the concept of wired multicasting, like ATM multicasting and IP multicasting, is still popular in some areas, it won’t be very long before wireless multicasting takes over the world.

Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) is the preferred architecture that will promote third-generation mobile telecommunication systems. UMTS is an offspring of the second-generation mobile telecommunication system (GSM). UMTS is geared to provide higher bandwidth radio access, especially for packet-data-based traffic, in addition to conventional voice services. UMTS can provide maximum bandwidths ranging from 64kb/s – 2Mb/s. Enabling UMTS for different and concurrent high-bandwidth users, thereby reducing cost, will require multicast wireless protocols to be in place.

Multicast wireless technology replaces the older technology with only a few infrastructural changes. To begin with, existing routers must be upgraded to include a specific multicast routing application in place of the older, traditional algorithms. When we speak of wireless multicasting, the most important medium of communication or broadcasting is the omni-directional antennas.

Multicasting is generally conducted through what is known as source-based multicast trees. The multicast tree operates on a number of algorithmic structures. The source-based mediums may need the receiver’s addresses and topology data. DVRMP and MOSPF are some of the best examples of the algorithms that are traditionally used in the process, especially for video broadcasting. All wireless broadcasting or multicasting processes are guided by a bunch of multicasting network protocols.

Wireless multicasting technology has triggered a tremendous curiosity in the minds of technocrats across the world. As mentioned earlier, the main reason for this is the rise in the number of mobile service provides, as well as the new functions and applications that are being integrated into mobile networks and wireless Internet connections. Moreover, communication dysfunction is harmful for basic and necessary services like the military, so the introduction of multicast wireless has made staying connected both easier and more effective. Cheaper broadcasting means many television channels can reach out to millions across the globe via IPTV and mobile TV broadcasting. In retrospect, it is clear that the need for multicast wireless was always present, but the realization has set in a bit late.

The purpose of having a wireless multicasting procedure is to maximize the security levels that were often found lacking in wired multicasting. Don’t be surprised if you see a constant growth in the quality of various broadcasting services now that they have wireless multicasting to fall back on.

If you hit CTRL +Alt + Delete, you will launch your task manager on your Windows Operating System. With task manager open, you can choose from several tabs including; applications, processes, performance, networking and users. If you click on the processes tab, you will usually see dozens of processes running. While some like WinWord.exe are easy to understand, others like msdtc.exe might scare you into thinking that you have a virus running on your computer. If you see msdtc.exe running, you should not be alarmed- it is not a virus.

What is msdtc.exe?

Msdtc.exe stands for Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator; it is obviously a Microsoft file. The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator is a transaction manager. The manager permits client applications to be compromised of several different types of data from various sources. This executive process coordinates the transactions across all servers that have authority to engage the transaction.

It should be noted that all MS applications do not use this file, however some that require server features do. Two MS programs that require msdtc.exe are Microsoft Personal Web Server and Microsoft SQL Server.
What To Do if you See msdtc Running

If you notice that msdtc.exe is running, the odds are that it is required for specific applications to function properly. You should not end this process prematurely. To do so may cause problems with the main application from running properly.

Is msdtc.exe a Virus?

It is highly unlikely that the msdtc.exe process running is a virus. However, you can check where the files are running from. If a non-Microsoft .exe file is found to be in the C:Windows or located at C:WindowsSystem32 folder, then there might be some reason to suggest that a virus, spyware, trojan or worm has infected your computer.

For more information regarding this file, please visit Microsoft.com.
